Training Vibes on Point
Marco Pfiffner rocked his prep for the ski season with Swiss-Ski, and changes were a game-changer. The camps got stretched to 12 days, meaning less travel hustle. Pfiffner said, „Ich habe es als gut empfunden, weil man nicht so einen Stress hat und sich voll auf das Training konzentrieren kann.“ Weather? Mostly on their side.
New Coach, Who Dis?
Enter Kurt Mayr, former Swedish Ski coach, now guiding Pfiffner and buddy Nico Gauer. Mayr’s got creds, having coached Renate Götschl. Pfiffner feels the vibe: „Er hat wieder neue Inputs reingebracht, was immer gut ist.“ With Mayr, ski technique got a glow-up: „Daran haben wir gearbeitet.“
Switching It Up
In the final prep stretch, Pfiffner and Gauer are ditching the Swiss for Copper Mountain, USA. Pfiffner notes, „Das Gelände in Copper Mountain ist anspruchsvoller.“ The aim? Serious speed training.
World Cup First
Pfiffner’s eyes are on the World Cup, with Eurocup as a maybe: „Es überschneidet sich terminlich recht viel.“ He’ll race against Gauer for a start spot in the Downhill, but both get to hit Super-G.
Countdown to Saalbach
The ultimate goal: World Champs in Saalbach-Hinterglemm in February. Until then, it’s all about crushing it in races like Kitzbühel and Beaver Creek. December 6 marks the start of the Speed season. Let the race begin!
