Just in time for Valentine’s Day, big-time rapper Thomas D and The KBCS drop their new single „Liebesbrief“. It’s all part of a love-themed jam session that went down last October in the Little-Big-Beat-Studios in Eschen. The same place where the Fantastischen Vier laid down their „The Liechtenstein Tapes“ album. Almost a year later, Thomas D is back in the cut, laying down tracks for his solo gig.
Surprise, Surprise!
On top of the new single, the crew is also dropping the music video for the session on YouTube today. No hype, no promo, just straight-up new music for the fans.
Old Friends, New Sounds
With The KBCS, Thomas D found some homies who could breathe new life into his decades-old songs. Trading in the hip-hop and rap for jazz and soul, the crew created a dope mix of lyrics, instruments, and all the feels.
Feel the Love
„Liebesbrief“ is all about that. Not just the song but the whole live session was a deep, touching experience for Thomas D. „The crowd, the vibe, it was all something special,“ says the rapper, giving props to studio owner Manfred „Little“ Konzett: „Little’s decision to capture this special moment as authentically as possible was off the hook.“
Keeping It Real
And by real, we mean analog. Konzett and his crew went old school, recording, mixing, and mastering the session in analog. In the biz, they call this „AAA production“. „Skipping the digital touch-up, sticking to the analog process, it gives the recording a unique warmth that only comes with analog and vinyl,“ explains „Little“ Konzett. Working with Thomas D and The KBCS was a blast. „The whole thing was mad fun, and the band and Thomas D are just super cool,“ raves „Little“ Konzett.
What’s Next?
There’s no word on more sessions with Thomas D for now. They’re just releasing the songs and videos. Fans can pre-order a special double-vinyl edition with 11 tracks from the Little-Big-Beat-Studios online shop. „We’re just focusing on sharing this studio live session project with the world,“ says „Little“ Konzett. „As for the future, who knows?“
